Sun Clock!

Do you know what is a Sun Clock? Do you know how it works? Do you even know that there is a sun clock in San Francisco? Read the text below and find out the answers to these questions.

Sun Clocks are clocks that use the movement of the Sun to mark time. They are also called sundial clocks. The Sun casts a shadow on the triangular pointer called gnomon. There are numbers all the way around the circle and based on where the shadow is you can know what time it is! That is the way that people used to know the time hundreds of years ago.
One of the disadvantange is in the winter time, on cloudy/rainy days and at night you cannot know the time by this kind of clock. Another negative point is that you can only know the hour of the day, not the minutes.

Well, the fact is that there is one sun clock in San Francisco! It is in the Golden Gate Park, in front of the de Young Museum! It is near the places to leave the bikes!

Hope you can find it and learn a little bit of this old invention!

Bay Bridge!

I have talked a lot about the Golden Gate Bridge, the store that is near the bridge, but this post is about nome of that. For the very first time on this blog, almost one year old (!), I am gonna talk about the Bay Bridge!

The Bay Bridge also known as San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge has one of the longest spans in the world, on 57th position. The Bridge is a part of Interstate 80 and the direct state road route between San Francisco and Oakland, because of that it carries about 280,000 vehicles per day on its two decks!
The construction began in 1933, the same as the Golden Gate Bridge. However the Bay Bridge was opened in November of 1936, six months before the GGB. The Bay Bridge originally carried automobile traffic of its upper deck and trucks and trains on the lower. However, after the Key System, which provided mass traffic in Oakland, the lower deck was converted to traffic road.
This Bridge is very important for people to go to Yerba Buena Island! I have seen pictures and that place looks amazing!

Learned a little bit more about the Bay Bridge? I hope so!

Moderation!

Humans have everything they could ever want. We are creatures very lucky that have plenty of opportunities and options right ahead us. What I am talking about is restaurants, squares, parks, movies and even stores.
We all live in a neighborhood, in a city, which is part of a country. In San Francisco, for example, there are a couple of neighborhoods and every single one has lots of different restaurants, stores, museums, squares and like so on. I'm sure all over the city there are restaurants of all kinds. Cheap, expensive ones, small, big, great, bad and like so on. Now my point is if you try to eat in every restaurant at one week, you'd be full and it wouldn't be healthy. So, you don't have to eat in every single restaurant to have a good meal, you only have to eat moderately. That's because you have to eat when you really want to have a meal, and that's when you body is ready to get the food. Otherwise you'll be even fuller and guilty.
The fact that every single neighborhood has lots of different and unique restaurants in one way amazes be a lot. However, you cannot eat in every single one. So, the most you can do is pick some up and try them moderately, because if so, you will value the experience and the food you have. Enjoy!

Sunrise!

Instagram photo: claranotes

Do you remember last time I was in SF I watched the sunset on my last days?

If you don't, here are the pics. So, this time I decided to watch the sunrise!

How did I have this idea? On my last days in SF last time I thought "what are some things that I haven't done yet and I have to do before leaving?" Watch the sunrise and the sunset came up in my mind. Last time I had planned on watching the sunrise too, but it turned out and I only watched the sunset. Which was magnificent!

So, this time I did watch the sunrise! It was an unique experience because I had to wake up really early, take more jackets than what I usually wear, take the muni, find the best spot to take pics and wait to see the beautiful natural phenomenon that happens every day! I had never seen the sunrise before!

The bridge that you see in the photos is the Bay Bridge. However the bridge in the photos of the sunset is the Golden Gate Bridge!

Have you ever watched the sunset? What about the sunrise?

Japanese Restaurant!

Hey! Who doesn't like japanese food?

I love it! Last week I was wandering in Japantown and I ate in an excellent restaurant! It is called Isobune and it is on the West side of japantown. I think this place is excellent because everything is simple in it. You don't even need to read the menu to order, because when you get in, you take a sit and there will be small boats floating in front of you carrying plates with pieces of food. That is it, basically. There will be many boats floating and you just have to take whatever you want. You will not take the whole boat, because that is imossbile. You will only take the plates with what you want to eat. Besides, they have about six colors of plates and every single color is a price. In the end of the meal, you will pay the price of every plate you ate. Sounds smart, doesn't it?

I usually eat about four or five plates, which is a good amount. The cheapest plate is $1.95 and in every plate you get about 2 or 3 pieces of japanese food! Not to mention that they have seasonal opition!

What? Japanese Restaurant Isobune
Where? West side of Japantown, San Francisco
Hours: 11:30am to 9:30pm 7 days a week.
Phone: 415 563 1030

Hope you like the food as much as I did!

Botanical Garden!

Hey!

Few weeks ago I went to the San Francisco Botanical Garden! I had never been there before and I had the impression that it must be much more beautiful and colorful in the fall. Despite the fact that it's winter and every living thing is kind of sad and less beautiful I liked the Botanical Garden very much. I think it's a very relaxing place, where you can easily spend a couple of hours, take a lot of pictures and like so on. I noticed that they have specific plants of specific areas in Africa or Asia, for example.

Anyway, I liked so much the time that I spent there and I would definitely come back in the spring and summer! The most beautiful pics I took on that day

Ah! One more thing: there are few little paths that you can walk and kind of end in the same place that you started. Which I think is interesting.

Like the pics? Ever been to SF Botanical Garden?

Dolce Amore!

Dolce Amore is a place in San Francisco to eat gelato, chocolates, cakes and to drink coffee, tea ans smoothies! They have cute pieces of chocolate! There are about 20 tipes of chocolates and each one of them has a different color and taste. They have raspberry, almond, dark chocolate, white chocolate and many other flavors.

There is also gelato! Unfortunately, I have never tried any of their flavors of gelato. However I want to do so. Some of the flavors are white chocolate chip macadamia nut, crème brule, apple rum raisin, profiterole and like so on. Sounds delicious, doesn't it?

They serve breakfast and lunch too! For breakfast they have things like scrambled eggs with roasted tomatoes served on toasted wheat bread, oatmeal with bananas, blueberries, dried cranberries, honey and ground cinnamon. For lunch they have options like chicken pot pie served with fresh spring mix salad and vinaigrette, and like so on.

Very interesting, huh?

Japanese Tea Garden!

Japanese Tea Garden is located in the Golden Gate Park and it such a beautiful place! It is not that big but all plants are beautifully pruned, which in my opinion makes a whole difference. Furthermore, I liked so much the two japanese buildings over there. They have the original japanese architecture!
Another thing that I really liked is the small lakes. I think there are like two small lakes, which combined with the buildings and the plants, characterize the japanese style! It's a very wooded place, which I like so much!
I haven't mentioned the statues of Buda that are in there! There is also a bridge that you can cross and take beautiful pics on the whole garden!!!

The Japanese Tea Garden is free from 9am to 10am every monday, wednesday and friday. More info at http://japaneseteagardensf.com/

Hope you go there and enjoy this beautiful place!
